Charges Laid In 401 Rollover

A London man is now charged in connection with a crash on Hwy. 401 that led to an investigation by the province's police watchdog.

The Special Investigations Unit was called to London on Saturday after the rollover near Veterans Memorial Pkwy. Middlesex OPP had responded around 6:38pm to the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 near Wellington Rd. after getting a complaint about a driver.

An officer spotted the vehicle in question and pulled it over. But when the officer tried to administer a roadside screening test, the driver sped away. The vehicle then rolled near Veterans Memorial Pkwy.  The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Scott Matthew Renaud, 40, of London is charged with:

  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail or Refuse to Provide a Sample
  • Flight While Pursued by a Police Officer
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
He is being held in custody after a video court hearing on Monday.
