Advance Poll Numbers Up

Nearly 47,000 people in the London region voted at advance polls over the long weekend.

Across Canada roughly 3.6-million electors took advantage of early voting, a 71% increase compared to advance poll numbers during the 2011 election.

Locally, 11,229 people have already cast their ballot in the Elgin-Middlesex-London riding.

In London-Fanshawe 10,676 people have already voted.

London North Centre saw 11,433 people show up at advance polling stations.

London West had the highest number of voters come out, with 13, 576 electors already voting.

These numbers have all been released by Elections Canada and have yet to be deemed official.

“Many Canadians chose to vote at advance polls in this election,” says Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Marc Mayrand. “Having four polling days provided greater flexibility and convenience for voters.”

Overall, 3,633,422 people voted at advance polls this election compared to 2,100,855 in 2011.
