Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is looking into the death of a 52-year-old man driven home by OPP from a Grand Bend establishment early Sunday.
The SIU says at about 2:30am, OPP officers were in the area of the Gables in the Bend restaurant/bar on Main Street.
A man, taken home by an officer, went into medical distress and was pronounced dead at approximately 5am.
Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to probe the circumstances of the incident. One subject officer and one witness officer from the Ontario Provincial Police have been designated.
A post-mortem examination will take place on Monday, July 27, 2015.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
