First Positive West Nile Test of Season

A dead crow found in London has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

It's the first positive test this year. The Middlesex-London Health Unit says the presence of West Nile is a reminder to remove standing water from properties and protect against mosquito bites.

The MLHU Vector-Borne Disease team traps mosquitoes to test them for West Nile and monitors more than 200 standing water locations on public properties, as well as roadside catch-basins.

If you see standing water that you think might be overlooked or find a dead crow, the MLHU would like to hear from you at 519-663-5317 ext. 2448 or through this link.
