Impaired Charges Laid After Wild Ride In Woodstock

Woodstock police say an impaired driver cause more than $10,000 in damage to vehicles and property Wednesday evening before they were finally stopped and arrested.

It started just before 6:30pm when a 2007 Nissan fishtailed and hit another car with three people in it as it turned onto Huron St. from Dundas St.

No one was hurt, but the Nissan didn't stop and carried on down Huron St. until it drove over a sidewalk near Knightsbridge Rd. and hit a tree. The impact dislodged the car's license plate and it was left at the scene. The driver continued north on Huron St. until officers stopped the vehicle near Blossom Park Rd.

Douglas Passek, 49, of Woodstock is now charged with:

  • driving while impaired
  • driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in the blood
  • failing to stop at the scene of an accident
  • dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
