The city and CUPE Local 101 are heading back to the bargaining table, four weeks after 750 inside city workers walked off the job.
The announcement was made this morning by the union, which notes there will be no further comment until the two sides meet with a provincial mediator on Saturday.
Just yesterday, City Manager Art Zuidema told BlackburnNews.com roughly 40 workers had crossed the picket lines to return to their jobs. He says the city is taking steps to ensure they will face no repercussions as the union threatens fines and suspensions.
The employees walked off the job on May 25. The two sides have met since then, but have been unable to settle on a contract.
Strike pay is roughly $300 per week.
