Beer And BBQ Show Opens Friday

If you're stuck for a Father's Day present this year, the Western Fair District might have the answer for you.

Friday marks the opening of the third annual Beer and BBQ Show at the Western Fair District. The show runs until Sunday.

Director of Business Development Kris Dinell says this year's show is 25% bigger than last year's.

"We have more vendors," says Dinell. "We have more products to sample, being alcohol and food samples. This year we have more bands. There's music each of the three days."

Dinell says he expects the crowd this year to also be bigger. In the first year of the show, there were roughly 3,000 visitors. He says that figure doubled last year.

"We're hoping for 8,000 to 10,000. Last year we were just over 6,000," says Dinell.

There will be no shortage of things to see at the show, according to Dinell. He says there will be grilling demonstrations, as well as various activities, and the "Run to the BBQ" 5 km run. Dinell says it's the perfect weekend event for Father's Day.

"Most Dad's would be OK with a couple of tickets to the show and some sample tickets," says Dinell. "There's lots for Dad as well as for Mom."
