The biggest road hockey tournament on record in Ontario is set for this weekend in London.
The annual Play On 4-on-4 event runs Saturday and Sunday in the downtown core. Organizers say the response this year has been overwhelming, with the a total of 545 teams taking part. Days before the event, it was announced that it was sold out.
The tournament will feature players of all ages and skill levels.
National program director Scott Hill says some of them will be playing for a good cause.
"We are partnered with United Way of London-Middlesex," Hill says. "All of the proceeds from our corporate division benefit the United Way. Scouts Canada also provides volunteers to help set up and take down the event, so we make a donation to Scouts Canada."
The event also benefits the National Men's Health Foundation.
There will be 47 "rinks" on streets surrounding Victoria Park. Hill says there will also be attractions and vendors in Victoria Park.
