LTC Looking for Feedback

London's Transit Commission wants to make it easier for riders to get around the city.

The LTC is about to finish a five-year plan that includes a wide range of improved services, but it is turning to the public before anything is finalized.

Some of the improvements include new and modified transit routes, new express corridors and increased hours of service.

LTC General Manager Kelly Paleczny wants to increase transit coverage in areas that aren't well served "by eliminating some of the duplication and utilizing those hours in other areas of the city."

The LTC is also putting thought into the system's future by including routes that could link to a potential London-Kitchener-Toronto high speed railway.

"The Shift initiative is anticipating that high speed rail will be coming to London," says Paleczny. "We're making sure that however we move forward with the rapid transit will align with that high speed rail."

Paleczny hopes the LTC gets plenty of input from rides.

"The things that we heard in the first round of public consultation were that we need to address overcrowding and we have passengers looking for us to simplify the route structure."

Paleczny believes the new plan addresses these issues, but she is still looking for more ideas.

There will be an open house at Goodwill Industries (255 Horton Street) on Wednesday April 8. Drop-in sessions will take place between 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.
