A London woman is banned from owning animals after she plead guilty to hoarding and abandoning 12 cats and seven dogs.
Officials at the humane society say the animals were removed from what is described as "extremely unsanitary conditions" last January.
Linda Boyd, 56, left the cats and dogs in her home without water and access to a small amount of food. Investigators say the animals were in terrible physical shape. The house was full of feces, rotting garbage and debris.
“People need to realize that though they think they are helping these animals, by having so many it is truly impossible to provide adequate care,” says Executive Director Judy Foster. “Aside from these animals not being provided with food and water, they were deprived of veterinary care and many were suffering from chronic ailments.”
Boyd has plead guilty to causing animals to be in distress, failing to provide the necessary care to animals and failing to provide adequate food and water to animals.
She is on probation for three years and is banned from owning, caring for and living in the same home as animal for 15 years.
