Snow Squall Warning In Effect

A snow squall warning remains in effect for London-Middlesex and surrounding areas.

Environment Canada expects snow squalls coming in off Lake Huron to reach the London area later today or tonight. Under the snow squall bands, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. The London area could get 10 cm of snowfall in a 12-hour period.

Lake effect flurries and local snow squalls are expected to become more intense later this morning and affect the onshore areas south of Goderich towards Grand Bend and into portions of Eastern Lambton County.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibility.

Environment Canada has also issued an extreme cold weather alert. Temperatures with the wind chill are expected to reach near -35 C in the coming days.
