Hwy. 402 has been fully reopened in Middlesex and Lambton counties following multiple crashes.
The Middlesex OPP says officers are assisting Lambton County OPP with numerous calls for help, including an 11-vehicle pile-up in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 402 near Nauvoo Rd. Police say the collision occurred just after 1pm.
Police say three people were transported to hospital by air ambulance with major injuries. Four tractor trailers and seven cars were involved in the crash. Around 100 vehicles behind the collision had to be re-routed.
The westbound lanes were closed through all of Middlesex County from Hwy. 401 to the Lambton County border, west of Kerwood Rd. The eastbound lanes were previously closed from the Lambton County border near Kerwood Rd. through Hickory Dr. in the Strathroy area.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, all lanes have since been reopened.
The OPP says snow squalls are reducing visibility and blowing snow is making driving difficult.
Officials are asking that drivers avoid unnecessary travel and slow down when you see snow.
