Police Notice Increase In Downtown Thefts

London Police say there has been a noticeable increase in property damage, thefts from cars and bike thefts in the downtown core this fall.

Between September 1 and November 3 police reported 73 thefts from vehciles, 66 reports of bicycle thefts and 99 reports of property damage.

As a result of the increase of thefts and damage, police on foot patrol did a two day blitz in the area bound by Oxford St., Talbot St., York St. and Waterloo St.

Officers laid three criminal code charges, two drug charges, 13 provincial offence notices and arrested two wanted people.

Londoners are being encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.
