The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers officially have an opponent for the first round of the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs.
The team will face the Hamilton Cardinals in the best-of-five series.
Barnstormers co-owner Dom Dinelle is happy that the team will have home-field advantage to start the postseason.
"We've got the best fans in the league, and it pumps up the players," said Dinelle. "The guys are playing really well at home for sure."
The Barnstormers had a much better record at home during the season than they did on the road.
Chatham-Kent and Hamilton were fairly evenly matched in the regular season.
The Barnstormers won 22 of 42 games in the regular season to secure fourth place in the league standings. The Cardinals ended up in fifth place, with 21 wins.
When they matched up against each other, Chatham-Kent came out on top, winning three out of five games.
The first three games have been scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Games one and three will take place at Fergie Jenkins Field, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the Barnstormers' first playoff game on Thursday are now available and cost $15 for people aged 13 to 60, $12 for those 60 and older, $5 for kids 6 to 12. They can be picked up at the office, online, or at the Chatham Pro Shop.
