Maroons name former player as next Head Coach, General Manager

A former player for the Chatham Maroons has been named as the team's next Head Coach and General Manager.

Brennan Feasey will replace Richard Santos, who joined the Leamington Flyers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) earlier this month.

Feasey spent last season as the Maroons' Assistant Coach. It was his first year back with the Maroons since he was a player in the 2014/15 season. In 162 games over four seasons, Feasey scored 103 goals and added 116 assists for 219 points, good for fifth most in franchise history.

Feasey told CK News Today he has some big shoes to fill.

"Nothing but good things to say about (Santos), he taught me a lot over this past season," he said.

The 31-year-old is still relatively new to coaching. He got his first taste during the 2023/24 season when he was a player-coach for the Bristol Pitbulls of the National Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom.

"That gave me the first taste of the coaching world and I really, really enjoyed it," Feasey explained.

Despite having little experience, Feasey believes he can help lead the team.

"I felt I was ready for it. Winning last year definitely helped [the confidence]," he added.

Joining Feasey behind the bench as Assistant Coaches will be former Maroon Steven Szekesy and Scott Case. Brett Case has been named as Assistant General Manager, with Bino Pereira serving as Billet Coordinator and Game Day Operations and Joseph Raaymakers as the Maroons Goalie Coach.

Doctor Stephan Lemak will once again be the Team Chiropractor with Brian Knowler returning as the team's Prevention Services Coordinator.
