A double honour for the Windsor Spitfires

A Windsor Spitfires forward and a goaltender have earned top honours in the OHL this week.

The club announced on Monday that forward Liam Greentree had been named the OHL Player of the Week. Goalie Joey Costanzo has received the OHL Goaltender of the Week distinction.

Greentree, a prospect for the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, scored four goals for 11 points over three games, all Spitfire victories.

The 18-year-old Oshawa native also leads the OHL in scoring, with six goals and 23 points. Greentree was a second-round pick in the 2022 Priority Selection.

Costanzo went 3-0 between the pipes during that same stretch of games. He stopped 71 out of the 75 shots he faced.

The 19-year-old from Toronto is undefeated in goal through eight starts and holds a 2.00 goals-against average. Costanzo's .932 save percentage is the second-best in the league. He was drafted by Niagara in the second round of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection.

Windsor currently leads the OHL with 17 points and an 8-1-1 record. In the CHL power rankings released on Tuesday, the Spits are sixth.

The Spitfires begin a three-game homestand on Thursday when they welcome the Owen Sound Attack to the WFCU Centre.
