Marco Arop misses gold by a nose, settles for silver

Canadian Marco Arop won silver in the men's 800-metre race, the nation's first medal in the event in 60 years.

Arop lost out to Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi by one-hundredth of a second, missing out on gold by a photo finish.

His silver-clinching time of 1:41.20 was a Canadian record.

Djamel Sedjati of Algeria won bronze.

The medal was Canada's 26th of the Games. The nation already set a non-boycotted Summer Olympic record earlier on Saturday when Katie Vincent won gold in the women's canoe single 200-metre.
