Jr. hockey wrap-up – January 9, 2019

The LaSalle Vipers hammered the Strathroy Rockets 6-2 in GOJHL action on Wednesday.

AJ Ryan led LaSalle with two goals, while Jack Chumley, Zane Dalpe, Brett Vorshuk and Cody Schneider each scored once.

The Vipers head to St. Thomas on Friday to take on the Stars at 7:30 p.m.

The London Nationals doubled the St. Thomas Stars 4-2.

Max Vinogradov, Riley MacRae, Cohen Kiteley and Christian Polillo all scored a goal for London.

The Nationals are on home ice again on January 16 to take on the Komoka Kings at 7 p.m.

In Junior C hockey, the Lakeshore Canadiens shutout the Wheatley Sharks 7-0.

Ameen Fadel was the lead scorer for Lakeshore with two goals, while Jake Nimmo, Hunter Bailey, Matt Teno, Nathan Skulley and Dylan Bradley all added one goal apiece.

The Canadiens return home on Friday to battle the Petrolia Flyers at 7:30 p.m. And then on Saturday, the Sharks are on the road to play the Blenheim Blades at 5 p.m.

Cameron Symons led the Blenheim Blades to a 5-1 victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Symons scored a hat-trick for Blenheim, while Dede Cato and Kier Cumming both scored once.

Cody Nicolaisen scored Wallaceburg's only goal.

The Lakers are in Petrolia on Thursday to take on the Flyers at 7:30 p.m. And then on Friday, the Blades travel to Dresden to face off against the Kings at 7:30 p.m.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
