A big second period helped lead the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals to a 7-2 win over the Blenheim Blades Sunday night at the Libro Centre.
Amherstburg is now tied with the Lakeshore Canadiens for third place in the PJHL Stobbs Division with 29 points. The Blades are in seventh place with 18 points.
The Admirals got off to an initial 2-0 lead to start the game off. Reid Stieler scored the first goal at 7:36, then a minute and two seconds later, Josh Talerico doubled the lead. That lead would not last long though, as the Blades evened the score before the intermission. Dede Cato cut the Addys' advantage in half at 10:57, then Cameron Symons tied the game late in the frame.
Amherstburg accounted for all four goals scored in the second period to give them a sizable lead. Travis Campbell scored the go-ahead goal at 2:42. This was followed by additional scoring off the sticks of Kyle Meloche, Cory Burns and Stieler, the latter goal on the power play.
Amilio Acampora added another goal in the third period.
Ben Larder had 38 shots fired at him in goal for Amherstburg and 36 saves. Tyler Letchford had 16 saves for Blenheim.
Both teams have home games next Sunday night. Blenheim will host Mooretown while Amherstburg will be visited by Lakeshore.
