Jr. hockey wrap-up – September 12, 2018

The LaSalle Vipers dropped a 7-1 decision to the London Nationals in their season opener on Wednesday.

Riley MacRae led London with two goals, while Max Vinogradov, George Diaco, Cal Davis, Christian Polillo and Bryce Lewis scored the other five goals.

Cody Schneider scored LaSalle's only goal of the game.

The Vipers head to St. Marys on Friday to take on the Lincolns at 7:30 p.m. And then on September 19, the Nationals play their home opener against the Lincolns at 7 p.m.

And in Junior C hockey action, the Dresden Kings kicked offr the regular season with a 4-2 win against the Wheatley Sharks.

Nolan VandenBoorn was the lead scorer for Dresden with two goals, while Elijah Duquette and T.J. Saunby both scored once.

Jace Leach and Alix Saliba scored the two goals for Wheatley.

The Sharks are in Lakeshore on Friday to battle the Canadiens at 7 p.m. Also on Friday, the Kings host the Petrolia Flyers at 7:30 p.m.

As well, the Blenheim Blades topped the Wallaceburg Lakers 4-1.

Malcolm Campbell scored two goals for Blenheim, while Connor Wright and Nick Delyzer each scored once.

Myles Fraser scored once for Wallaceburg.

The Lakers will try to bounce back on Saturday when they face off against the Flags in Mooretown at 7:30 p.m. And then on Sunday, the Blades return home to take on the Amherstburg Admirals at 7 p.m.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
