Kyler Carter's hat trick in the third period propelled the Lakeshore Canadiens to a 5-3 win over the 73s in Essex Sunday night.
Lakeshore won this battle of unbeaten in the PJHL Stobbs Division standings and improves to 3-0. Essex falls to 2-1.
There was no scoring in the first period, and Steven Sartor of the Canadiens was sent to an early shower at the end of the frame on a game misconduct for boarding. Both teams exchanged goals in the second period with Colin Sartor putting Lakeshore on the board first with a power play goal. Essex's Michael Vieira evened the score soon after, also on the power play.
Vieira's second goal of the game put the 73s ahead with 58 seconds elapsed in the third period for a 2-1 Essex lead. Carter then scored his first two goals back-to-back as the Canadiens took a 3-2 lead. Essex tied the game again at 6:06 in the period with a power-play lamplighter from Wyatt O'Neil. Lakeshore took the lead for good afterwards on goals from Colin Sartor and Carter's third goal of the night.
Mitch Topliffe was the winner between the pipes for the Canadiens with 23 saves. Tyler Ryan had 19 saves for the 73s.
Essex hosts Wheatley Tuesday night and Lakeshore travels to Wallaceburg Wednesday.

Nolan Farr's goal with 16 seconds gone in the third period was enough for the Mooretown Flags to beat the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals 3-2 at the Libro Centre.
The Flags won despite accumulating 36 penalty minutes on 12 infractions, compared to 26 minutes over nine for the Addys.
Bryce McGregor put Amherstburg up first on a goal at exactly three minutes into the opening stanza. Mooretown's Brett Farr reciprocated on the power play for a 1-1 tie after one period.
Cory Burns helped the Admirals regain the lead on the power play at 2:14 in the second period, but Josh Vale evened things up again for the Flags later in the frame. Nolan Farr's game-winner would be the last goal of the game, though two Flags players would be sent off for game misconducts. Colton Osborne was shown the gate for tripping and Brent Blais for checking from behind.
Nolan Hakr took the victory in the crease for the Flags, stopping 35 shots. Ben Larder also stopped 35 shots in the loss for the Admirals.
Both teams are back in action Friday night. Mooretown visits Lakeshore and Amherstburg heads to Dresden.

The Petrolia Flyers scored four second-period goals in their 6-2 win over the Blades in Blenheim.
Curtis Helps drew first blood for the Flyers on an unassisted goal at 56 seconds into the first frame. Dede Cato evened the score for the Blades.
The Flyers scored two more back-to-back goals in the middle of the second period 27 seconds apart, off the sticks of Kole Keating and Derek Wagner, extending the Petrolia lead to 3-1. Nick Delyzer got one back for Blenheim on the power play, but Petrolia scored two more goals before the second intermission, from Eric Campbell and Keating's second goal of the game. Blake Hull threw the puck in for good measure late in the third period for the Flyers.
Riley Collins took the win for Petrolia in goal with 26 saves out of 28 attempts. Chris Dewulf picked up 25 saves out of 31 for Blenheim.
The Blades host Wheatley Thursday night while Petrolia welcomes Wallaceburg.

Kevin Hu put on the hat for the St. Thomas Stars in their 7-4 win at home over the Sarnia Legionnaires.
The Stars scored three goals in the third period to put the game away.
The Legionnaires started things off with a Jon Anderson goal. Just over midway through the first period, St. Thomas got goals from Hu and Adam Keyes 33 seconds apart for a 2-1 lead. Matt Stoia tied it up again for Sarnia for a 2-2 tie at the first intermission.
Jake Desando's second period goal put the Stars ahead, but Sarnia's Stoia and Sanderson had back-to-back scores to give the Legionnaires their first lead of the night. Hu's second goal knotted the game at 4-all after two periods.
Justin Badour, Craig McKague and Hu's third goal were the three that put St. Thomas over the mark for good in the final frame.
Anthony Hurtubise began the game in goal for St. Thomas but Kodie Oude Vashaar took over halfway through the game and got the win. Blair Coffin got 32 saves in the loss for Sarnia.
The Legionnaires travel to LaSalle Wednesday night and St. Thomas hosts Chatham Friday.
