Two Maroons Get Hat Tricks in 13-3 Win

Two Chatham Maroons got hat tricks in their 13-3 domination of the Lambton Shores Predators on the road Saturday night.

Dakota Bohn and Josh King got the three-spots for the Maroons, who now sit in second place in the Western Conference with 65 points.  Bohn's hat trick was completed with just one second to go in regulation.

"That was phenomenal.  It was a lucky goal, it was kind of a muffin shot," said Bohn.  "Great pass from (Bryce) Yetman.  It was a great, great game."

Bohn's first goal was just 70 seconds into the opening frame.  Chatham got two goals before the first intermission, off the sticks of Braden Henderson at 7:07, and King's first goal of the night at 16:54.

The Predators cracked the scoreboard 27 seconds into the second period on a goal from Max Griffioen.  King's second goal at 6:05 made it a 4-1 Maroons lead.  Lambton Shores responded back 20 seconds later with a goal from Isaac McLean.  However, Bohn struck with his second score of the game at 6:59 to extend the Chatham lead to 5-2.  Andrew Kim brought the Predators a goal closer yet again 20 seconds after that, but Yetman put the puck in once more for a 6-3 Chatham lead after two periods.

The Maroons exploded for seven unanswered goals in the third period.  Two of those goals came from Ethan Sarfati, who knew his line was on fire in the period.

"I don't know what it was, but I noticed, definitely in the third, we just starting each other more," said Sarfati, who had a total of six points in the game.  "We were moving our feet and things just came of it."

In addition to Sarfati's goals in the third period, Austin Thompson also scored twice while Bohn and King completed their hat tricks.  Jake O'Donnell had a single goal in the third for Chatham.

Both teams will meet again Sunday night at Memorial Arena in Chatham.  Puck drop is at 7pm.
