Marner Named Rookie Of The Month

Former London Knights star forward Mitch Marner has been named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for January.

He put up more points than any other rookie last month, scoring four goals and adding 11 assists for 15 points in 13 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With two points in Tuesday night's loss against the Dallas Stars, Marner is also now tied with Winnipeg Jets forward Patrick Laine for the lead in the rookie scoring race with 41 points in 48 games (Laine has only played 45 games).

Marner is the third Toronto Maple Leafs player to earn the honour this season (William Nylander - October and Auston Matthews - December), making the Leafs the first NHL team to have three different players named Rookie of the Month in a single season.
