Mooretown Stops Wallaceburg 5-1

Greg Hay scored twice as the Mooretown Flags beat the Wallaceburg Lakers in Mooretown Saturday night 5-1.

The Flags are tied with the Wheatley Sharks for sixth place in the PJHL Stobbs Division standings.  The Lakers are last with just seven points.

Joe DeSana had the only goal in the first period, putting the Flags up 1-0.  Greg Hay picked up his first goal of the night on the power play at 11:42 of the second period.  Wallaceburg cut the Flags' lead in half at 17:23 in the frame, a goal by Nolan Farr which was also with a man advantage.  Matt Brandon and Alec Scarsella scored twice more for Mooretown in the third period to put the game away.  The third period was also rife with penalties, and Wallaceburg's Farr and Dale McMaster each received misconducts.

Mooretown outshot Wallaceburg by a whopping 69-15.  Jake Wilkins stopped 14 of those 15 shots in goal for Mooretown.  Kyle Koopmans had 64 saves for Wallaceburg.

The game concludes the regular season for both teams.
