Junior Hockey Wrap Up - November 19, 2016

Delaney MacDonald collected a goal and two assists as the Wheatley Omstead Sharks beat the Wallaceburg Lakers 5-1 Saturday night at Wheatley Area Arena.

Mitchell Prudence added two assists for the Sharks, who are tied with Dresden for fifth place in the Stobbs Division standings with 21 points.

MacDonald's first assist came 1:10 into the first period on a Curtis Rodrigues goal.  The Lakers would tie it up 33 seconds later with their only score of the night, a goal from Josh Oberg.  Mitch Lantin would break the tie at 3:06 in the first with a goal that featured both Macdonald and Prudence on assists.

There was no scoring in the second period, but the Sharks would take control and keep it with three goals in the third, from Calyn Kir, Nick Tavolieri-Essex, and MacDonald's goal at 17:46.

Tyler Dillon and Erik Morneau both played goal for Wheatley with Morneau in the pipes for 22 minutes and collecting the win.

Wheatley hosts the Essex 73s Monday night, while Wallaceburg welcomes the Lakeshore Canadiens on Wednesday.

Matt Brandon scored two power-play goals and notched an assist as the Mooretown Flags beat the Petrolia Flyers in Mooretown 4-1.

The Flags are currently seventh in the Stobbs Division with 20 points, while the Flyers are a distant eighth with ten points.

Brandon's goals were back-to-back to start the first period, with the first tally coming at 5:57, and the second power-play goal scored exactly three minutes later.  Jacob Williams made it 3-0 Mooretown by scoring at 17:17, and Brent Blais put in one of his own 33 seconds after that for a 4-0 Flags lead after the first period of play.

There was no scoring in the second period, and the Flyers got on the board in the third period with a goal from Tim Kaldeway.

The Flags are at the Libro Centre Sunday night to take on the Amherstburg Admirals, while Petrolia travels to Wheatley on Wednesday.
