The Sharks took a 1-0 lead in the first period, but the 73's offense came alive in the second as they scored five goals.
Tyler Boughner and William Stadder both had two goals for Essex.
The 73's are off until Sunday when they take on Amherstburg. Wheatley is off until Monday when they host Dresden.
They were produced during an intense storm last Saturday afternoon.
