A brutal finish for the Blue Jays in New York last night.
The Yankees scored four runs off of Blue Jays reliever Jason Grilli in the eighth inning, and held on to beat the Jays 7-6 in New York. Toronto had a one-run lead entering the eighth, but Grilli allowed two walks, two hits, and four runs in two thirds of an inning.
With the loss, the Blue Jays are now tied with Boston for first in the A-L East because the Red Sox beat the Padres 5-1.
In other baseball action, the Tigers tried to rally, but lost 2-0 to the White Sox. In the top of the ninth, J.D. Martinez appeared to hit a solo home run around the foul pole in left field, but the call was overturned.
Detroit is now one game back of the second wild card spot after Baltimore beat Tampa Bay 11-2.

Canada's last hope of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia is gone.
The Canadian men beat El Salvador 3-1 in Vancouver, but Honduras tied with Mexico, setting up Canada for a third place finisih in Group A of CONCACAF qualifying.
Mexico and Honduras will both move on to the next round while Canada will have to focus on trying to qualify in 2022.
