Byrne and Meloche Lead Jr. Golfers

Essex's Graham Byrne continues to lead the Junior Boys division of the Jamieson Junior Tour after another solid outing Monday.

Byrne shot a 1 over par 73 to win the day at Pointe West Golf Club and maintain his position atop the standings. He currently leads James Hill by 8.5 points through the first eight events of the tour.

Hannah Meloche of Sutton Creek managed to take the Junior Girls title by finishing with a five over 77, beating second place Jasmine Ly by 2 strokes. That was also enough to give her sole possession of first place in the standings -- she leads Melanie Burgess by just 0.5 points with two events left on the schedule.

In the Collegiate Men's division, Thomas DeMarco of Essex managed to hold off Chatham's Brett Fujii with a five over 77 -- Fujii shot six over par and also sits in second place behind DeMarco in the overall standings.

Alyssa Getty won the day for the Collegiate Women's division. She shot a 77 and currently leads Lexi Lawrence in the overall standings by one point.

The next event on the tour's schedule will be played at Erie Shores on Wednesday.
