Spits Lose 6-5 OT Contest to Petes

The Windsor Spitfires fought hard through a back-and-forth Family Day matinee, but ended up losing to the Peterborough Petes 6-5 in overtime.

After Windsor came out hot and went ahead 2-0, thanks to goals from Luke Boka and Brendan Lemieux,  Peterborough came back with three unanswered goals of there own into the second period. The two teams would trade goals before the end of the middle frame, which included Lemieux's second goal of the game, to put the score at 4-3 going into the third.

The third period became the Christian Fischer show for Windsor, with the winger scoring his first goal of the game early to tie things up at 4-4. After the Petes went ahead with five minutes to play, Fischer came back to tie the game again with 2:20 left on the clock.

But in the end, the Petes made the difference in the overtime frame, with Dominik Masin scoring 2:49 into the extra period. Fischer finished with two goals and two assists, while Lemieux had two goals and an assist of his own.

Next action for the Spitfires is Thursday against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
