A former Chatham-Kent Cougars star and Western Mustang is preparing to play professional football.
"I'm excited, I'm ready to go, I'm not even really nervous, I just want to show them what I've got and hope for the best."
Josh Woodman is getting ready for the CFL combine in March, training two-hours a day, five days a week.
"We're doing a lot of speed training, cone drills, band work, working with resistance, and working on the start of 40 (yard dash), which is like the main part that you need to train the most to get the good numbers," says Woodman.
The 23-year-old defensive back says his biggest focus is improving his 40 time, which is around 4.6 seconds right now.
The CFL combine goes March 10th, followed by the draft in May.
The 6' 1.5", 195lb. Chatham native has one more year of university football eligilibtiy remaining. If CFL teams think it's best he go back for another year following the draft, Woodman says he would go back to Western for his final season.
At the end of this semester Woodman will graduate with a double major in anthropology and history, and would love to make a career of coaching football.
