Wheatley, Essex Win Streaks Clash

Someone's win streak is about to end at tonight's game where the Wheatley Omstead Sharks take on the Essex 73's.

Wheatley is on a six-game win streak and the 73's are going 17 games without a loss in regulation.

Wheatley's head coach Dave Wiper says he's still confident.

"The kids are really playing hard. We didn't have our best outing last night," says Wiper after winning 1-0 over the Mooretown Flags. "But sometimes you got to have goaltending to win you hockey games and our goaltender Eric Morneau played a real good game last night."

The last time Wheatley squared off against Essex the Sharks lost 11-1.

"We had a lot of breakdowns. We definitely didn't get the bounces," says Wiper. "It's just that everything they seemed to shoot went in. We're hoping to clean that up tonight."

Puck drops tonight at 7pm in Essex.
