Upton Signs With Tigers

The Detroit Tigers have added another bat to their rotation, signing OF Justin Upton to a six-year contract.

Buzz around the trade started around 9:30pm Monday, when Fox MLB insider Ken Rosenthal sent out this tweet.

Not long after, details of the trade were released. As ESPN's Jerry Crasnick tweeted, the deal is worth upwards of $22 million/year. Upton has spent his entire nine-year MLB career in the National League, in stints with Arizona, Atlanta and most recently the San Diego Padres.

Upton has over 600 RBI's to his name, with a career OPS of .825. Last season he hit 26 home runs and 81 RBI's, with a slugging % of .454.
