An overtime powerplay goal by Brett Bowman capped off an 4-3 upset victory by the Wheatley Sharks over the Essex 73's Monday.
The goal came about five minutes into the extra frame. It was Bowman's ninth goal of the year.
Despite being heavily outshot throughout the contest, including a two-shot first period and three-shot third period, a goal by Nick Tavolieri-Essex put the Sharks ahead in the second period.
After another Wheatley goal early in the third, Dallas Pereira answered quickly for the 73's, and Adam Galarin tied things up halfway through the frame. But Bowman's goal still made the difference to steal the win for Wheatley.
Up next for Essex is a Tuesday night game against Lakeshore. Wheatley will also face Lakeshore in their next action on Friday.
