Local Attends Crosby Hockey School

A Belle River 12-year-old is one of the lucky few in Canada who can say he received one-on-one time with Sidney Crosby at his first ever hockey school.

Mitchell Myers flew with his parents to Nova Scotia at the beginning of August for the five-day camp.

"It was an amazing experience. As soon as we saw him it was like 'it's Sidney Crosby!,'" Myers says with excitement. "Then we just got to know him, then after he showed us a drill then we would all do it and he would give us (fist) pounds."

One of the best parts for Myers was how much face-to-face time he got with Crosby.

"He really emphasized being a good team leader and just being a captain and being a good person," says Myers.

Mitchell's dad Larry says the camp taught kids leadership skills, sportsmanship, building self esteem while focusing on skills of the game and having fun.

Around 15,000 applications were submitted and only 160 kids were chosen.
