Chatham-Kent-native TJ Brodie is bulking up this summer, in anticipation of training camp with the Calgary Flames.
The defenceman is entering the first year of his new five-year contract with the team, which pays him $4.65-million annually. "As far as training goes, they (the Flames) just want me to get a bit stronger. Not gain too much weight, but gain the strength, and that's something I'll have to find a way to do."
Brodie says he took a couple weeks off after the season ended, but has been in the gym pretty consistently over the last month or so.
The Flames exceeded most hockey pundit's expectations last season by making the playoffs, and Brodie believes his team can build on that success this coming season.
