Chatham-native Bridget Carleton led all scorers with 13 points in Team Canada's Women's 19U basketball win against Mali Saturday morning.
Canada shot a respectable 43.6% from the field in the 71-62 victory. Carleton went 2-6 from three, and added 9 rebounds in the game. The win gets Canada off to a 1-0 start at the World Championships.
Despite turning the ball over more, and being out-rebounded by the African nation, Canada's national team earned the victory in pool play, due in large part to their bench outscoring Mali 30 to 17.
Next for Carleton and the Canadians: a game with France on Sunday at 8:45am EST.
