Opening Day Excitement

Bus loads upon bus loads of Canadian Detroit Tigers fans are making their way across the border to join the Opening Day festivities.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to descend on downtown Detroit, where massive outdoor parties are being held while the first game of the regular season is played on big screens.

"I've been coming to this thing for like 10 years now. It's amazing. I love it," says Tigers fan Tara Maxim.

Many fans, like Adam Koschuck, are happy about the weather. "It's actually pretty decent, because I think it's supposed to rain all during the week and we've got Opening Day 63 F. I can't complain about that."

And as for Detroit's chances at a World Series this year after going 12-20 through spring training, John Francis is one of a number of fans who are cautiously optimistic. "There are some hurdles to climb, but they've always got a chance to win."

First pitch for today's game against the Minnesota Twins goes at 1:08pm.
