Bowling fundraiser collects over $16K for PAWR

An organization that cares for stray pets in Chatham-Kent is getting a major financial boost.

Pet And Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) was able to raise over $16,600 at its second annual Barking Up the Alley Bowl-a-Thon.

The majority of the funds raised will help cover vetting costs.

Lori Gregory, a fundraiser and resource developer for PAWR, told CK News Today the event can only be categorized as a success.

"We had many company participants from our community that were very, very gracious in helping us with our goal, and everyone had a really fun time," she said.

The Bowl-a-Thon saw 24 teams use each lane at the Chatham Bowlerama. This was up from the 20 teams who participated in the first event, with this year's fundraiser also raising between $4,000-$5,000 more.

"We're overwhelmed by how awesome the community is and how supportive they were," added Gregory.

PAWR is already planning a third event for 2027. Gregory explained that the hope is to expand on what's become a successful fundraiser.

"We can only do the 24 lanes, but we have other ideas," she added.
