CK welcomes first baby of 2026

It didn't take long for the first baby to be born in 2026.

Nara and Kabita Dahal welcomed their daughter Naira on January 1 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA). She was officially born at 5:55 a.m.

"The baby's doing great, and mom is also doing great. We've already been [discharged] from the hospital, and we're at home," said Nara.

This is the couple's first kid. Nara said it's already started to sink in that he's officially a dad.

He also explained he'll never forget the experience, as he was extremely worried for his wife due to all the pain.

"It was stressful, but finally the baby was here, and we're all happy," he said,

Nara added he had no idea Naira was CK's New Year's Baby until staff told him. He explained that this just made the whole experience even more unforgettable.
