Blenheim man charged after allegedly pointing gun at other drivers

A 20-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with a long list of offences after Chatham-Kent (CK) police alleged that he was driving dangerously and pointing a handgun at other drivers.

CK police said officers responded to a complaint about a man waving and pointing a gun at others on the road on Friday morning at approximately 9:26 a.m. on Communication Road at Fairview Line in Harwich Township.

Police alleged the driver attempted to flee the scene, and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted because of the possible possession of a firearm.

The driver eventually exited the vehicle and was arrested without incident, according to police.

Police noted that officers found a Glock-style BB Gun in the vehicle, and charged the man with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and failing to comply with his release orders.

The accused was also combative when he arrived at police headquarters, allegedly spitting on an officer. More charges, including assaulting a peace officer, were laid.

The suspect also faces other charges, including mischief, theft related to a separate fuel theft investigation, and possession of stolen property.

He is in custody at the jail in Windsor.
