Tibury fatal crash case crawls through court

A man accused of killing a teen in Tilbury will have his focus hearing continued next month.

A focus hearing is a court tool that is used to streamline the legal process by having a judge make decisions on how evidence will be presented and on time limits for the case.

The case of Jaise Thomas, 26, of Chatham, will return to Chatham court on December 15.

The prosecution is waiting for more submissions, including medical evidence, collision reconstruction data, expert qualifications, cause of death, and dozens of other information reports.

Thomas is charged with dangerous driving causing death in connection with a fatal head-on crash that took place just outside of Tilbury on January 20 on Queen’s Line between Wheeler Line and Davidson Road. The collision claimed the life of 18-year-old Sebastian Belliveau.
