Millions in grants given out in CK

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent (CK) is giving taxpayers a snapshot of how many took advantage of its Community Improvement Plan (CIP) financial incentive programs.

Municipal officials reported that 358 applicants were granted nearly $6 million to stimulate private sector investments in the commercial, employment, and residential development sectors.

Another $1.8 million have been approved, but unpaid because the projects have not yet been completed.

Amendments to the CIP are up for approval at the CK Council meeting on Monday night.

The amendments include increasing incentives and expanding eligibility to reflect Council’s evolving growth and development priorities along with changing market conditions.
