The Festival of Lights will be celebrated in Chatham this Saturday, October 25.
The Chatham-Kent Asian Cultural Association (CKACA) will host its annual Diwali festival at Ursuline College on Grand Avenue West at 7 p.m.
"Diwali is also known as Festival of Lights, and it's a very beautiful, colourful Asian tradition that's observed by millions across the world," said Ritika Sharma, Media Advisor for the CKACA. "This is across religions, across communities. We are inviting everyone to come and join us; we want to share our culture."
Diwali celebrates light, hope, and togetherness. The CKACA has planned lots of great entertainment, including a number of dance numbers.
"There will be traditional and folk dances, vibrant music, and cultural performances that capture the spirit of Diwali through lights, colours and energy," said GiRi Thommandram senior committee member and spokesperson of CKACA.
The event is free and is open to everyone in the community.
