Buxton Speedway fire under investigation

The owner of the Buxton Speedway is asking for help finding those responsible for a fire at the race track over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Will Marche said someone set his water truck on fire and tried to set a tractor ablaze on Sunday night.

Marche noted two individuals, one in a side-by-side, and another in an All-Terrain Vehicle, snuck onto the speedway property and set fire to the truck shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday.

He said luckily no one was hurt, but he is contemplating the future of the speedway, wondering if it's worth the trouble and the risk because of the arson and the constant badmouthing of the track.

Marche is asking anyone from the community with camera footage or who saw or heard anything between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, to come forward.

Chatham-Kent police confirmed the fire is being investigated as an arson.
