East Kent Hot Rods for Hospice keeps growing

The third annual East Kent Hot Rods for Hospice raised a record amount of money for the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation this year.

The event took place on Saturday and raised $34,744.

Organizers said hundreds of cars and thousands of people from across Chatham-Kent and beyond enjoyed the annual event organized by volunteers of the Ridge Runners East Kent and the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus.

According to organizers, those who attended enjoyed a car show, a vendor exhibit, a soapbox derby, kids activities, live music, emergency vehicle displays, a 50/50 draw, raffles, and much more.

“We had an outstanding turnout that saw more than 330 classic cars roll through and thousands of people enjoying the day,” said event organizer Emily Vollans. “We’re fortunate to have Hospice in our community and our team is honoured to support hospice families while also bringing a large-scale event back to East Kent.”

The foundation is thanking the Ridge Runners East Kent planning committee, event sponsors, volunteers, and attendees for dedicating their Saturday and for this year's great success.

The funds raised will help CK Hospice continue to provide end-of-life care as well as grief and bereavement services to the community.

"It is thanks to the generous support of community events like Hot Rods for Hospice that the Chatham-Kent Hospice can provide vital services to our community at no-cost,” said Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation Brock McGregor.

The event raised $32,549 in 2023 and $29,229 last year.
