A Chatham-Kent (CK) police officer is being recognized after his quick action saved an infant's life.
Sergeant Fraser Leontowicz responded to a call regarding a two-week-old infant experiencing a medical emergency on Tuesday afternoon.
He arrived within two minutes of the call and located an unresponsive infant.
“Within minutes, I had police officers at my home, ready to help. They were awesome,” said the infant’s mother in a release sent by CK police.
The sergeant used first aid and CPR training on the infant, who eventually regained consciousness.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived soon after, helping the infant before transporting them to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) for further treatment.
This is not the first time Leontowicz has been recognized for saving a life.
He was honoured with a Chief’s Commendation in 2024 after he helped save a woman who attempted suicide.
The CK Police Service has thanked Leontowicz for his swift and selfless actions.
The infant is expected to make a full recovery.
