Maroons win third straight, trouncing LaSalle

The Chatham Maroons remain undefeated after taking care of business against the LaSalle Vipers.

The two teams faced off in LaSalle on Wednesday, with the Maroons winning 8-2.

Leading the way was Ewan McChesney, who recorded a hat-trick. These were his first three regular-season goals for the team.

Brennan Feasey, Maroons' head coach and general manager, had nothing bad to say about McChesney's performance.

"I thought his overall game was arguably the best I've seen him play. He was doing all the little things right... and he was rewarded."

Also getting three points in the game was Trevor Zanutto. His goal and two assists brought his season total to seven points in three games. Last season, he recorded six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 39 games.

Feasey explained Zanutto has become a much more confident player.

"I think he's almost skating better than last year. He came into camp in tremendous shape, and he had a fantastic offseason," he added.

Scoring the other four goals for the Maroons were Bo Doxtator, Drew Ferenc, Grant Symons, and Alexander Lisi.

Viljami Kukkola made 37 saves in the win.

The Maroons are back home on Thursday, taking on the Welland Jr. Canadians. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at Chatham Memorial Arena.
