CK council to vote on colleague's pay suspension Monday evening

A Chatham-Kent (CK) municipal councillor will find out on Monday what type of penalty she'll face for breaching council's code of conduct.

In August, CK's Integrity Commissioner found that Alysson Storey had committed a violation by making disparaging comments at a Town Hall meeting in Dresden and a council meeting that undermined administration and the community hub project.

Those remarks included "unsubstantiated allegations" regarding service closures and accessibility failures at the CK Library.

After receiving public complaints, Integrity Commissioner Suzanne Craig recommended a formal reprimand for Storey and a 10-day suspension of her pay.

Council will vote on whether to follow Craig's recommendation, which would result in a loss of $1,149 for Storey.
