Firearm Investigation
A third person is facing several firearm charges stemming from a single vehicle collision.
On April 27, a black Dodge Ram reportedly crashed on Middle Line. Witnesses told police that people in the truck were seen putting alcohol in a grey Dodge Caravan before it drove away.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a 36-year-old man showing signs of impairment. He was arrested and later charged with impaired driving.
Police say they later pulled the van over and arrested the driver for impaired driving, as well as a passenger who had an outstanding immigration warrant. During a search of the vehicle, police reportedly found a loaded firearm with its serial number tampered with.
The driver and passenger were each charged with six firearm-related offences.
Following an investigation, police charged the 36-year-old man with four firearm-related charges. He reportedly turned himself in to the police and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Arrested Twice in Same Month
Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for the second time this month, allegedly for stealing.
The 29-year-old man reportedly broke into a school on William Street North in Chatham on August 9.
He was arrested, charged, and then released.
On Tuesday, an e-bike was reportedly stolen from a farm on Bloomfield Road. Police stated that they found it the next day with the same man as before.
He was arrested again and is currently in police custody, awaiting another bail hearing.
