Air Canada flight attendants will continue to strike despite being ordered to return to work by the federal government.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) released a statement on Saturday, calling the decision to end negotiations through binding arbitration a betrayal.
"This is not over. We will continue to fight on the picket lines, on the streets, at the bargaining table, in the courts, and in Parliament, until the injustice of unpaid work is done for good. Workers will win – despite the best effort of the Liberal government and their corporate friends," said Mark Hancock, CUPE National President.
The decision by CUPE to defy the federal government's order has forced Air Canada to stop all its flights on Sunday.
In a statement, the airline company said around 240 flights were scheduled, but have now been cancelled.
Air Canada also called the decision by CUPE "illegal."
